S Shape Air Lock – Twin Bubble (C6514)
Fermentation lock or airlock is a device that provides a one way route to gases. It allows carbon dioxide released during fermentation to escape from the carboy while not allowing air to enter back in. This prevents oxidation.
Rubber stoppers with a drille hole sits on the mouth of the carboy and an airlock is fitted over it.
This is a single piece S shaped airlock while we also have a 3 piece fermentation airlock.
Yeast consumes sugars of the wort and releases Alcohol (which makes it beer) and Carbon Dioxide as by-products. S Shape Fermentation airlock allows the one-way movement of gas. In this case, the CO2 is free to escape into the atmosphere but the atmospheric air cannot enter. This is essential to avoid oxidation of the brew once the fermentation begins. S Shape Air Lock Creates a closed system that removes carbon dioxide and prevents oxygen and harmful bacteria from entering.
It’s very easy to use just Drill a 1/2″ hole in the fermenter lid. Then insert the black grommet into the cover hole. Place the tapered tip of the airlock into the grommet hole to seal the bottle. Allows air bubbles to escape during the fermentation process while preventing oxygen from damaging your fermentation and beer brewing. The 3-piece airlock can be removed and completely cleaned with a small brush
